Dubai Marks the Official Launch of Blue Line with a Firework Display

Dubai made a grand statement last night at the Dubai Creek Harbour, showcasing the words 'Blue Line' and '2023' in the sky alongside HH Sheikh Mohammed and the Dubai Metro. This firework display confirms the official launch of the Blue Line project, promising increased accessibility across the city.

Blue Line Project Details

The Blue Line, an extension of the existing Red and Green lines, aims to expand the city's metro network. It's set to stretch the green line from Al Jadaf's Creek station, navigating through Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras al-Khor, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Academic City before ending near the Desert Rose project. This extension boasts a lineup of 11 stations.

Expansion Routes and Connectivity

On the opposite end, connecting with the red line, the Blue Line will link Rashidiya's last station to Mirdif City Centre. It will proceed through Mirdif and Warqaa before merging with the Green Line extension in International City.

Project History and Revival

Initially paused due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Blue Line project regained momentum in early 2022. Resuming its design phase, the project enlisted contributions from renowned entities like UK-based Atkins and Grimshaw, US-based Parsons, and France's Egis to actualize its vision.
