Dubai Police Split City Into Urban and Rural Zones

Dubai Police are taking city safety to the next level—literally zoning in on it. In a new move to level up their emergency response game, the force has officially split the emirate into urban and rural zones.

The aim? Faster response times, smarter patrol routes, and sharper use of AI-powered tech to keep the city secure and its streets safer.

The strategy, revealed during the Dubai Police General Department of Operations’ Q1 performance review, is fully aligned with the future-forward Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. It’s all part of the city's mission to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to smart governance and urban innovation.

Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigations, led the high-level meeting. He was joined by top brass like Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei and Brigadier Turki bin Faris, all laser-focused on revamping how law enforcement tackles everything from traffic incidents to community policing.

Al Mansouri explained that zoning Dubai into two distinct categories—urban and rural—will allow for better resource allocation. That includes everything from deploying patrols more strategically to using AI to analyze crime patterns and fine-tune operations.

“Whether it’s traffic management, crime prevention, or community engagement, this move helps us tailor our response to what each area actually needs,” he said.

With rapid urban development and population growth, Dubai’s evolving landscape calls for smarter security solutions. By embracing this tailored approach, Dubai Police are betting big on precision, speed, and next-gen tech to stay one step ahead.
