Duration of Fasting to Exceed 14 Hours in the UAE from April 11

Muslims who are fasting in the UAE will fast for more than 14 hours starting Tuesday, April 11th because the daylight hours are starting to increase in the UAE, consequently increasing the duration of fasting in the country as well. 

According to the Emirates Astronomical Society, the fasting duration in the UAE was 13 hours and 46 minutes at the start of Ramadan, however, on the last day of the holy month, this time period will have increased to 14 hours and 13 minutes. 

The authority's astronomical calculations reveal that Eid Al Fitr is expected to start on April 20th, Thursday and run till April 23rd, Sunday. Nonetheless, the date will be confirmed by the moonsighting committee during the last days of Ramadan. 

In 2023, people residing in Chile have the shortest fasting duration at an average of 11 hours and 30 minutes, while the longest fasting duration is endured by Muslims living in Reykjavík, Iceland at 16 hours and 50 minutes.
