If you're a non-Emirati living in the UAE and worried about your child's education, here's some great news! Starting this academic year, certain non-citizen students can now apply to public schools in the UAE.

Who Can Apply?

The new policy allows children from grades 2 to 12 to join public schools if they meet specific criteria. Eligible students include:

- GCC nationals

- Children of diplomats

- Holders of Emirati, Comoros, or special decrees passports

- Students whose parents work for government, semi-government, or local entities

Academic and Residency Requirements

To qualify, students must have achieved at least an 85% average in Arabic, Math, and English. Additionally, both the student and their parents need to have valid UAE Residence Visas. Note that non-citizen students in each class are limited to 20% of the total number of students.

Tuition and Curriculum Details

While UAE citizens, GCC nationals, and children of high-ranking officials receive free education, non-citizens who qualify will pay AED 6,000 in tuition fees. Public schools follow the Emirati National Curriculum, teaching all subjects in Arabic with English as a secondary language.
