Free Parking and Tolls in Abu Dhabi This Friday for Prophet’s Birthday

Good news for drivers—Abu Dhabi and Dubai are giving you a break from fees this Friday, September 5, in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) confirmed that Mawaqif parking and Darb toll gates in Abu Dhabi will be completely free for the day. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) also announced free public parking across the city, except for multi-level parking and Al Khail Gate (N.365).

When Do Charges Resume?

Don’t get too comfy—normal parking and toll fees will be back on Saturday, September 6.

Here’s the Usual Parking Situation

  • Abu Dhabi Premium (white/turquoise): Dh3 per hour, max 4 hours

  • Abu Dhabi Standard (black/turquoise): Dh2 per hour or Dh15 full day

  • Darb Toll Gate: Dh4 per crossing during peak hours (7–9am, 3–7pm)

But remember, parking is already free every Sunday and during official public holidays in the capital. People of Determination also enjoy year-round exemptions.

The Holiday Perk

Friday, September 5, is officially a public holiday for both government and private employees across the UAE. So whether you’re heading out with friends or just running errands, that’s one less expense to think about.
