A Ride Like No Other

The new roller coaster, announced by Miral, the developer behind many of Yas Island’s biggest attractions, will be a “significant and signature” addition to Ferrari World. Speaking at the Arabian Travel Market, Mohamed Al Zaabi, group chief executive of Miral, confirmed that the ride will claim four world records, though the exact details are still under wraps.

While we don’t know what those records are yet, the hype is real. And given Ferrari World already holds the title for the world’s fastest roller coaster (Formula Rossa), we can only imagine what’s coming next.

Yas Island Is Leveling Up

This record-breaking roller coaster is just one part of a major Yas Island expansion. Over at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, two brand-new signature rides are on the way. And Yas Waterworld is making a splash with 12 new rides set to launch this summer as part of its ongoing expansion.

If you're planning a staycation or summer trip, Yas Island is stacking up to be the ultimate destination.

What’s Coming Next?

Looking ahead, a Disney theme park was recently announced for Yas Island and it's being described as the most advanced Disney park ever. Not only is it expected to attract global visitors, but it’s also projected to boost local house prices and create thousands of jobs.

Theme parks are already drawing crowds in huge numbers. Yas Island saw a 20% increase in visits last year, hitting a whopping 38 million. Hotels are thriving too, with 82% occupancy, longer stays, and higher spending. In fact, the average hotel rate jumped 17%, and Miral is now planning to add 30% more hotel rooms in the next five years to meet demand.

Culture Meets Entertainment

Beyond the thrill rides, culture is getting a big boost too. Over on Saadiyat Island, The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is on track to complete construction by the end of the year, while teamLab Phenomena is already pulling in the crowds. Still to come? The long-awaited Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

And for the Harry Potter fans, the magic continues, a new Potter-themed attraction is currently in the works inside Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

All Eyes on Tourism Strategy 2030

All of this fits into Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to attract nearly 40 million visitors a year, create 178,000 new jobs, and contribute AED 90 billion to the economy. The capital is already on track, with 1.4 million overnight guests recorded in Q1 2025 and hotel revenues hitting AED 2.3 billion.

From record-breaking coasters and movie-themed rides to world-class museums and luxurious hotels, Yas Island is quickly becoming one of the most exciting destinations in the world. And it’s just getting started.
