Sharjah Introduces New Licence Plate Category for Classic Cars and Motorcycles

Sharjah Police have announced the launch of a new category of licence plates dedicated to classic vehicles and motorcycles across the emirate, marking a step toward enhancing specialised traffic services while preserving automotive heritage.

The new plates were officially unveiled on Tuesday, December 23, and follow the approved design standards for vehicle plates in line with Sharjah’s official visual identity. Authorities said the initiative reflects a balance between modern regulatory requirements and the distinctive character of classic vehicles.

Plates for classic vehicles and motorcycles

The newly introduced category includes First Category and private plates for classic vehicles, as well as First Category plates for motorcycles. The designs aim to meet contemporary standards while maintaining the heritage appeal associated with vintage and collectible vehicles.

Sharjah Police said the new licence plates are part of ongoing efforts to modernise traffic services and offer tailored solutions for vehicle owners with specialised needs.

Auction and availability

The plate numbers will be offered for sale in cooperation with Emirates Auction, providing a wide range of options distinguished by quality and variety. The move aligns with institutional goals to further develop and diversify the traffic services system across the emirate.

Officials added that the introduction of the new category is intended to deliver high-quality, distinctive services to owners of classic vehicles and motorcycles, reflecting Sharjah’s broader focus on innovation, customer experience, and heritage preservation.
