UAE Hit by Heavy Rainfall, Wind, Sandstorms, Authorities Issued Alerts

On Saturday, certain regions of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced harsh conditions as they were hit by strong winds, rain showers, and sandstorms. Residents were urged by the police and weather forecasters to take caution during this period.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCMS) issued a warning at 12.36 pm on Saturday, notifying the public to expect rough weather conditions from 1pm to 8pm.

The weather forecast predicted wind speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour in various areas of the country, including Dubai and Al Ain. Residents in southeastern parts of Dubai took it to social media to report heavy rainfall and strong winds.

One social media user, posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a video of heavy drizzle from his balcony, posting “summer rain in Dubai.”

Following heavy rain in Al Ain on Friday, the National Center of Meteorology (NCMS) forecasted rainfall for Saturday afternoon, Sunday, and Monday in the eastern regions of the Emirates.

Abu Dhabi Police temporarily lowered the speed limit on the Dubai to Al Ain Road, reducing it from 140kph to 120kph, and advised motorists to exercise caution due to the rainy weather. In the upcoming five days, Abu Dhabi is expected to experience temperatures around the mid-40ºC, while temperatures in Dubai are anticipated to be slightly lower.
