US Visa Services in Abu Dhabi & Dubai to Pause for Two Weeks

The US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate General in Dubai will temporarily stop all visa appointment bookings and fee payment services from May 15 to May 29, 2025.

This move is part of the US missions’ transition to a new visa service provider, which will officially take over on May 30, 2025. Once in place, the new system will handle appointment scheduling, fee payments, document delivery options, and other support services for visa applicants.

Visa Appointments Still Valid If Booked Before May 19

Any non-immigrant or immigrant visa interviews already scheduled before May 19 will proceed as planned. Applicants with appointments during this time do not need to reschedule and should show up at the designated date and time.

Here’s What Visa Applicants Should Know

Depending on where you are in the visa process, here’s what you need to do:

  • If you already have an appointment: No action needed. Just attend as scheduled.

  • If you’ve paid the visa fee but haven’t booked your interview yet: You must schedule your interview before May 19 on the current system.

  • If you haven’t started yet: Make sure to pay your visa fee and book your appointment before May 15, since the current system will stop accepting new payments after that.

  • If you're mailing documents: Drop them off at an authorized location before May 24, as document collection will stop after this date.

Emergency Travel? You Can Still Request Urgent Appointments

During the blackout period (May 15–30), those with emergencies like medical travel, family emergencies, urgent business, or school deadlines can request an expedited visa appointment:

Plan Ahead to Avoid Delays

The US missions are urging travelers to avoid last-minute bookings and to plan early. With services paused for two weeks, the embassy recommends completing your visa steps before the blackout begins.
