YouTube Introduces ”YouTube Theater”

YouTube is looking to take entertainment to the next level with the opening of its new YouTube Theater for business, with 6000 seats to host a variety of live entertainment events.

YouTube Theater can host a range of live events including concerts, theater performances, awards shows, and eSports competitions linking it back to YouTube’s app. The Theater is located in Inglewood, California and the first event planned at the venue was the Hollywood Black Comedy Festival.

YouTube Theater is a great step after its online success, as the largest search engine for videos. The Theater has advanced infrastructure such as YouTube’s live TV service which supports streaming in 4K. Fans can interact with the 13x10 foot digital signage display of the YouTube icon by mirroring themselves on the screen and watching highlights from YouTube.

The place has amenities including a 3,500-square foot private club, a full-service catering kitchen capable of serving up to 2,000 people in addition to 47 food and beverage points-of-sale.

Through the YouTube theater, the platform opens up a new space for itself away from the strong competition from Facebook and Twitter, where both platforms have expanded strongly in the gaming industry. The idea of the theater is not new and has become a reality after events sponsored by the platform, most notably VidCon, an annual gathering that saw an estimated 75,000 people in 2019.
