90% Traffic Fine Discount? Abu Dhabi Police Warn of Scams

Abu Dhabi Police have issued a clear warning about fake social media accounts and websites claiming to offer huge discounts—up to 90%—on traffic fines. These accounts also falsely promise cancellation of vehicle impoundment and removal of black points from driving records. Authorities emphasize these claims are scams designed to trick drivers into giving away personal information or money.

Official Discounts Are Much More Limited

The police remind the public that the only official traffic fine discount program is the ‘Act Early & Benefit’ initiative, which offers a 35% discount if fines are paid within 60 days, and a 25% discount if paid within one year. This applies only to minor violations, and serious offences are excluded.

Stay Alert and Use Official Channels

Fraudsters create new social media profiles with few followers to push fake offers. Many drivers have spotted suspicious posts offering impossible services like renewing driving licenses without the holder present—something illegal in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi Police stress the importance of verifying information only through trusted official sources and warn against sharing personal data on unknown sites or messaging accounts. They also encourage everyone to report any suspicious activity immediately.

How to Report Fraud

If you suspect a scam or fraud related to traffic fines, visit the nearest police station or use the Abu Dhabi Police smart app’s ‘Police Station in Your Phone’ feature. You can also call the toll-free number 8002626, send an SMS to 2828, or email aman@adpolice.gov.ae.

Authorities Fight Back with Public Awareness

The police are working closely with banks, media outlets, and social platforms to stop these cybercrime attempts. They remind everyone to avoid spreading unverified news and to rely on official announcements for updates on traffic and police services.
