Astra Tech Launches Botim First Arabic Chat GPT in the Middle East

Astra Tech, a technology investment and development group based in the UAE, has unveiled the Botim Arabic Chat GPT, an AI chatbot that is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Developed in collaboration with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, the chatbot has been integrated into the Botim app, a well-known voice and video messaging application. The goal of the chatbot is to transform the way services are accessed by introducing conversational commerce.

“Botim’s Arabic Chat GPT marks another significant step toward simplifying people’s daily lives and transforming the global tech industry while also enhancing the capabilities of our upcoming Ultra app.” Said Abdallah Abu Sheikh, co-founder and chief executive officer of Astra Tech.

“We are very excited to leverage the Arabic language modeling experts at MBZUAI to pilot the service on Botim for our select users as we train the model.”

Astra Tech has stated that the newly launched Botim Arabic Chat GPT will cover all of Botim's services by utilizing real-time information gathering and providing users with links and sources. The pilot test of the AI-powered chatbot currently allows users to access services such as international money transfers, bill payments, government services, and weather checks using generative AI.

The technology firm has further plans to expand the app's capabilities by adding features such as stores and healthcare services at a later stage.

Initially, the Botim Arabic Chat GPT will be limited to a specific group of users within Botim's user base of over 100 million before being made available to a wider audience.

In January, Astra Tech acquired Botim as a part of its bigger initiative to create the first ultra-platform in the region, which aims to be an all-in-one solution for consumers and sellers globally.
