Dubai Adds 1,788-Capacity Mosque Just in Time for Ramadan

Dubai just added a brand-new mosque to its map — and the timing couldn’t be more fitting.

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) has officially opened Al Walidayn Mosque in Al Muhaisnah 2, giving residents more space to pray during Ramadan and beyond.

Built for a Growing Community

Spread across 5,050 square metres, the mosque can accommodate up to 1,788 worshippers. That’s a solid boost for the neighborhood, especially during peak prayer times in the holy month.

The project was funded by Sultan Ahmed Mohammed Lootah, Mohammed Dahi Saeed Al Muhairi, and Moza Zaal Mohammed Lootah — a move that reflects the UAE’s strong culture of charity and endowment.

Modern Design, Full Accessibility

Al Walidayn Mosque blends clean, contemporary design with practical features. It includes:

  • A main prayer hall for men

  • A minaret and arcade

  • Ablution areas and restrooms

  • Accommodation for the imam and muezzin

  • Dedicated facilities for People of Determination

The goal is simple: make the space welcoming and accessible for everyone in the community.

Part of Dubai’s Bigger Plan

IACAD says the opening is part of its wider strategy to expand religious infrastructure across the emirate. With Dubai’s population steadily growing, more mosques mean more room for connection, reflection, and community life.

The launch also highlights the UAE’s ongoing focus on generosity, social responsibility, and sustainable development — values that tend to shine even brighter during Ramadan.
