Eid Al Fitr Prayers to Be Held in Mosques Only Across UAE This Year

Planning your Eid prayers? Here’s an important update.

The General Authority for Islamic Affairs Endowments and Zakat announced that Eid Al Fitr prayers will be held inside mosques only across the UAE this year.

No Open-Air Prayer Grounds

Authorities confirmed that Eid prayer grounds and open areas will not be used, with prayers strictly limited to mosques.

The move comes as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of worshippers.

Coordinated Nationwide Decision

The decision was made in coordination with relevant authorities, including the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department Dubai and the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department.

Worshippers are being urged to follow official guidelines and perform prayers only in designated mosque spaces.

Eid Date Depends on Moon Sighting

The UAE’s Moon-Sighting Committee will observe the Shawwal crescent on March 18.

  • If sighted: Eid begins Thursday, March 19

  • If not: Ramadan completes 30 days, and Eid falls on Friday, March 20

Astronomical forecasts suggest Ramadan will likely complete the full 30 days this year.

Follow Guidelines for a Safe Eid

Authorities are reminding everyone to stick to official instructions to ensure a safe and smooth Eid celebration.
