Hamad International Airport Instructions for Arrivals and Departures

The following information can help make your trip safer and easier, whether you're flying into or out of Hamad International Airport for a transfer or to arrive or depart.

Arrivals

Passengers arriving at Hamad International Airport should be aware of the following:

Security Check:

Before you can go to the baggage claim area, your hand luggage must first pass-through security screening. Items that are prohibited will be taken away and you won't be able to get them back at any point. These consist of, but are not restricted to:

  • guns, weapons, and ammo
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • pork-based goods
  • Narcotic drugs

Customs:

You can leave the airport after retrieving your checked baggage by going through Customs. There are two different Customs routes available.

Should you have "Nothing to declare," choose the green channel.

If you have "Something to declare," select the Red Channel. These consist of:

  • Alcoholic drinks (cannot be imported under any condition)
  • exceeding foreign cash, jewelry, and precious stone limits
  • transporting firearms and weapons that are forbidden or restricted
  • Having illegal items, and carrying more than 400 cigarettes
  • in possession of gifts and personal things worth more than QAR 3,000 (USD 825)

In the event that you are unsure which channel to choose, kindly request assistance. You are required to declare any money, jewelry, or precious stones you may be in possession of if a customs official asks. Refusing to disclose and giving false or partial information is against the law, and the objects may be seized as a result.

Duties and Taxes:

On anything you bring into Qatar, taxes or charges may be due. Check out this list for further details.

Priority Processing:

Priority processing is given to all Al Maha clients, travelers needing special assistance, and unaccompanied youngsters when leaving Hamad International Airport.

Resolving Issues:

Any things discovered at the security checkpoint that travelers have forgotten or misplaced are placed in our Lost & Found office. Please request assistance collecting your possessions at the nearby information desk (map).

Departures

Passengers departing from Hamad International Airport should consider this important information.

Security Check:

Your hand luggage is inspected at the security checkpoint. You must also pass through a metal detector. The process will go much more smoothly if you:

  • Make sure you don't have any forbidden goods.
  • Any liquid containers should be placed in a transparent, sealable plastic bag. Each liquid container must hold no more than 100ml. The closest information desk has free resealable plastic bags available.
  • Before being checked, place your handbag with little objects inside. These consist of watches, wallets, phones, and keys.
  • Belts, shoes, and other accessories containing metallic components should be placed in the security tray before passing through the metal detector.

Please be aware that:

  • The metal detectors in our walk-through are secure for travelers who have cardiac pacemakers.
  • The security staff may decide to waive the metal detector requirement for expectant mothers in exchange for a medical certificate and at their discretion. In this situation, they must submit to a physical examination by a female security officer.
  • First and Business Class passengers can use dedicated lanes.
