Dubai Airport Named World's Busiest for 9th Consecutive Year

Airports Council International (ACI) has reported that Dubai International Airport (DXB) retained its title as the world's busiest airport for international passenger traffic in 2022, a position it has held for nine consecutive years.

Dubai International (DXB) airport has experienced a significant increase in passenger traffic in 2022, with numbers more than doubling to over 66 million. This growth is largely due to the recovery of the local and international aviation sector, leading DXB to revise its forecast for 2023 to 78 million passengers.

In comparison to the previous year, the airport's passenger traffic saw a remarkable 127% surge in 2022, with fourth-quarter figures reaching pre-pandemic levels. Dubai Airport's CEO, Paul Griffiths, expressed his excitement at DXB's continued dominance in the industry, citing the airport's exceptional performance throughout the year and the surge in traffic in the final quarter.

“The increase in demand for air travel was universal in 2022, but what set DXB apart was the dedication of our people and the meticulous planning and preparation by each and every service partner that makes up Dubai’s amazing airport community,” said Griffiths.

The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, has stated that their main focus is to maintain Dubai International (DXB) airport's position as the world's busiest airport for international passenger traffic.

Data from the Airports Council International (ACI) reveals that DXB retained its top position in 2022, with London's Heathrow Airport coming in second place with 58.243 million passengers. Other airports in the top 10 busiest for international passenger traffic include Amsterdam, Paris, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Madrid, Doha, Singapore, and London's Gatwick Airport.
