Ras Al Khaimah Ranks First in Global Expat Essentials  Index

Ras Al Khaimah has earned global recognition as the best city for expatriates, ranking first out of 53 cities in the prestigious Expat Essentials Index by InterNations, the world’s largest expat network.

This index evaluates cities on four core factors crucial for expats:

  • Admin: Simplified visa processes and minimal bureaucratic hurdles.
  • Housing: Affordable options and ease of finding accommodation.
  • Digital Life: Seamless access to high-speed internet and online government services.
  • Language: Integration made easy without needing to speak the local language.

A City of Global Appeal

In addition to securing the top spot in the Expat Essentials Index, Ras Al Khaimah ranked second globally in the Working Abroad Index and fifth in Ease of Settling In. These accolades highlight its reputation as a city where expats thrive professionally and socially.

Heba Fatani, Director-General of the Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office (RAKGMO), said, “This recognition showcases our unwavering commitment to creating a safe and thriving community that attracts individuals from all over the globe.”

Fatani also introduced Heart of RAK, a newly launched digital platform dedicated to highlighting the emirate’s lifestyle, business opportunities, and tourism offerings.

Rouba Zeidan, Head of Special Projects at RAKGMO, emphasized, “The top ranking reflects Ras Al Khaimah’s collaborative efforts to build a vibrant community where expats feel truly at home.”

  • Housing: 72% of expats report ease in securing accommodation compared to a global average of 45%.
  • Pre-relocation Comfort: 69% of respondents found no issues with housing, bureaucracy, or language barriers, compared to 29% globally.
