UAE Waives Overstay Fines for Travelers Hit by Airspace Closure

If your flight plans were disrupted by the recent airspace closure, here’s some relief.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security has announced that passengers affected by the shutdown will not have to pay overstay fines.

Who is Covered

The exemption applies to:

  • Tourists who were in the UAE during the airspace closure

  • Residents who had cancelled their residency visas and were scheduled to exit the country

In short, if you were supposed to leave but couldn’t because flights were suspended, you won’t be penalized.

From When It Applies

Authorities confirmed the waiver covers fines incurred on or after February 28, 2026.

The move comes as part of broader measures to ease the impact of regional disruptions on travelers. If you’re affected, it’s still smart to check your status through official channels — but the fines linked to this period are being waived.
