UAE Deploys Emergency Teams to Keep Airports Running

The UAE has launched an emergency airport operations plan in response to the travel disruptions caused by the escalating Iran-Israel conflict. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) confirmed the move, saying it’s working closely with all relevant operational bodies to keep flights running and passengers safe.

The emergency business continuity plan was activated immediately after regional tensions led to airspace closures in several countries. The plan includes detailed regulatory procedures and was rolled out in collaboration with the UAE’s strategic partners to ensure flexibility and minimise disruptions.

To keep everything moving smoothly, qualified field teams have been deployed at airports across the country. These teams are available 24/7 and are equipped to handle any situation that arises, ensuring peak responsiveness at all times.

For travelers facing delays or cancellations, the ICP is stepping in to provide support. Stranded passengers are being offered temporary accommodation, logistical help, and up-to-date travel information. The UAE has also streamlined its passenger entry system to adapt to the current situation, while support teams on the ground are working directly with airlines to manage rescheduling and provide guidance.

According to aviation analysts, around 1,400 flights pass through the region daily. The closure of key airspace corridors has forced many airlines to reroute, leading to longer flight times, increased fuel costs, and disruptions in flight schedules. Aviation authorities have urged all carriers to exercise extreme caution when flying through affected areas.

Airports including Zayed International in Abu Dhabi and Dubai International Airport are advising travelers to stay informed through official airline updates, as unexpected changes remain a possibility.

As tensions continue to rise, experts warn that the conflict could widen, potentially impacting global air traffic, trade routes, and economic stability. For now, the UAE is doing everything it can to keep its airports safe, functional, and ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
