The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) has expanded its recall of Nestlé infant formula in the UAE after traces of the bacterium Bacillus cereus were detected in production inputs. The precautionary move aims to protect infants and ensure public safety.

Which Products Are Affected

The recall now includes S26 AR, a formula meant for use under medical supervision only. The affected batches are:

  • 5185080661

  • 5271080661

  • 5125080661

Parents and caregivers are urged to check their product batches and avoid using any affected formulas.

Why the Recall Happened

Bacillus cereus can produce a toxin called cereulide, which may trigger foodborne illnesses. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, particularly risky for infants.

Steps Being Taken

The EDE confirmed that all affected batches in distributor warehouses are secured. Efforts are ongoing to remove remaining products from retail outlets and e-commerce platforms.
