flydubai reveals flight changes during Dubai Airport runway closure

Budget airline flydubai has confirmed details of flight schedule changes during the scheduled closure of Dubai International Airport's southern runway for maintenance.

Departures to 42 destinations will be impacted and will be relocated to Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali, approximately 65 kilometres south of Dubai starting from Tuesday April 16 to Thursday May 30.

The following flight destinations will be impacted: 
- India

- Pakistan

- Saudi Arabia

- Egypt and other destinations.

However, some of the airline's routes will be operating from both airports simultaneously – so you should be checking on flydubai website if you're due to fly during the period.

In a statement, flydubai said: “We advise all travellers to arrive at the check-in desks two to three hours prior to their flight departure time.

“We encourage all passengers arriving into Dubai to check their airport of arrival and to remind anyone who’s picking them up that they might be arriving at Dubai World Central (DWC).”

Dubai International Airport said the runway maintenance is being scheduled during a "seasonal lull" when there are fewer passengers.

Concrete will be used to strengthen the runway and taxiways, while 60,000 tonnes of asphalt will be placed on the surface.
