Forbes Middle East Reveals 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen 2023 List

Forbes Middle East has released its annual list of the region’s most powerful businesswomen for 2023 with 27 different nationalities across 27 sectors being represented.

Emirati businesswoman, Hana Al Rostamani, Group CEO of the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), moved two spots to land first place this year while Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, came in second place.

Lubna S. Olayan, Chair of the Saudi British Bank and Chair of the Executive Committee, and Deputy Chair of Olayan Financing Company came in third overall and highest-ranked Saudi on the flagship annual Forbes Middle East list for 2023.

Emirati and Egyptian women dominate the list, with 15 and 12 entries, respectively. They are followed by Saudi with 11 listees, Kuwait with eight, and Lebanon, Oman, and Qatar with six each, Forbes Middle East highlighted in their press release.

Banking and financial services made up 23 of the 100 listees while diversified conglomerates and the investments industry followed with 11 and eight female business leaders, respectively.

Below is the list of the top 10 most powerful businesswomen for 2023:

  1. Hana Al Rostamani, Group CEO of the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) – Emirati.

  2. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group – Emirati.

  3. Lubna S. Olayan, Chair of the Saudi British Bank and Chair of the Executive Committee of Olayan Financing Company – Saudi.

  4. Sheikha Khaled Al Bahar, Deputy Group CEO of National Bank of Kuwait Group (NBK) – Kuwaiti.

  5. Renuka Jagtiani, Chairwoman of Landmark Group - Indian. 

  6. Wadha Ahmed Al-Khateeb, CEO of Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) – Kuwaiti.

  7. Sara Al Suhaimi, Chairperson of Saudi Tadawul Group – Saudi.

  8. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) – Qatari.

  9. Shaista Asif, Co-Founder & Group COO of PureHealth Group – Pakistani.

  10. Randa Sadik, CEO of Arab Bank – Jordanian.
