Here's Where You Can Watch the Partial Lunar Eclipse in the UAE

A partial lunar eclipse is set to grace the night skies of UAE on the 28th of October, 2023. These celestial events are relatively rare, dependent on the precise alignment of the Earth, Moon, and Sun.

During a partial lunar eclipse, the Earth positions itself between the Sun and the Moon, though not in perfect alignment. The result is a shadow cast upon the lunar surface, giving the Moon the appearance of a bite taken out of its surface. This stands in contrast to a total lunar eclipse, where the Earth's shadow envelops the entire Moon. And unlike solar eclipses, viewing a lunar eclipse is safe for the naked eye.

The upcoming event coincides with October's full moon, often referred to as the Hunter's Moon. This name is inspired by its timing, as it historically marked the season when hunting for food was crucial in preparation for the approaching winter.

To witness the once-in-a-blue-moon celestial display, enthusiasts can join in viewing parties organized by groups like the Dubai Astronomy Group. The partial eclipse is expected to commence at 10:22 PM on Saturday, reaching its peak at approximately 12:14 AM on Sunday.
