Rashid Rover From the UAE Has Successfully Entered the Moon's Orbit

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) reported on Tuesday that Rashid Rover, the first Emirati lunar rover to land on the moon, has successfully entered lunar orbit.

At 5:24 a.m. UAE time on March 21, the Rashid rover-mounted iSpace lander carried out the lunar orbit insertion operation as directed by lander engineers and in accordance with the mission operational plan.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre states that until the completion of the lander's lunar orbital maneuvers, the rover's subsystems will undergo five tests.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council tweeted, “We are proud of the UAE’s newest space achievement. The lunar lander carrying the Rashid Rover has safely entered the moon’s orbit taking us a step closer to a lunar landing. The support of our leadership & the dedication of our youth continue to drive our space ambitions forward.”

When all lunar orbital maneuvers have been completed, the landing sequence is anticipated to occur in late April 2023. The precise day and time are yet to be announced.
