It was a night to remember for UAE football fans as Sharjah Football Club lifted their first-ever continental trophy, winning the inaugural AFC Champions League 2 in a dramatic 2–1 showdown against Singapore’s Lion City Sailors.

The final, held at Bishan Stadium, had all the ingredients of a football thriller. Sharjah’s Firas Belarbi broke the deadlock in the 74th minute, only for Lion City to equalize deep into stoppage time with a clutch goal from Maxime in the 91st. Just when extra time seemed inevitable, Marcus Meloni delivered a last-gasp winner in the 97th minute, sending Sharjah fans into a frenzy.

A Historic First for Sharjah

This victory marks a major milestone—not only is it Sharjah FC’s first continental title, but it’s also the first-ever edition of the newly revamped AFC Champions League 2 tournament.

The UAE's football scene was buzzing with pride after the win. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, shared his congratulations on social media:

"Congratulations Sharjah... Congratulations UAE. Sharjah Football Club, champion of AFC Champions League 2."

He went on to thank the players, leadership, and fans for their contribution to what he called an “honourable achievement.”
