Sharjah is introducing a brand-new early education model. The emirate will launch Early Childhood Centres that combine both nurseries and kindergartens in one convenient facility.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, announced this exciting initiative. He also approved the government nursery enrolment plan for the 2026–2027 academic year, which features an 18 percent increase in admissions compared to last year.

Speaking about the new centres, Sheikh Dr Sultan said: “They can now enrol in government schools until construction of the Early Childhood Centres is completed. I am personally following the matter, and we are working to build kindergarten classrooms in the existing nurseries as quickly as possible, God willing, because they offer particular advantages,”

Currently, 200 nursery graduates have already joined kindergarten sections at four key centres in Al Suyoh, Al Rahmaniyah, Al Lu’lu’iyah, and Kalba.

Three-Phase Plan to Welcome 3,004 Children

The new plan will roll out in three phases. This expansion will increase the number of government nurseries in the emirate from 40 to 47:

  • Phase 1 (August 2026): Will accommodate 2,402 children.
  • Phase 2 (January 2027): Will welcome 332 children.
  • Phase 3 (April 2027): Will accommodate 270 more children.

With these phases combined, the total enrolment will reach 3,004 children.
