Sharjah to Open 1,000 New Government Jobs in 2026

Sharjah is adding more jobs to the table — and soon.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved 1,000 new government jobs for Emirati men and women as part of the emirate’s 2026 plans. The move targets fresh graduates and job seekers looking to enter the public sector.

This brings the total number of government job opportunities announced under Sharjah’s 2026 budget to 2,000 positions, strengthening the emirate’s push to support Emiratis in the workforce.

1,000 new roles for Emirati job seekers

The newly approved positions are open to Emirati men and women across Sharjah and are designed to absorb newly graduated degree holders. The goal is simple: help graduates move faster from classrooms to careers.

Paid training programme worth Dh60 million

Alongside the new jobs, Sheikh Dr Sultan approved the 2026 Sharjah Programme for Training and Qualifying Job Seekers, which will support 1,200 Emiratis.

The programme comes with a Dh60 million budget and includes professional training, qualification support, and a monthly allowance of Dh6,000 per participant. It is open to both current applicants and new job seekers.

Job interviews kick off next week

Things are moving quickly. Sheikh Dr Sultan directed the Sharjah Department of Human Resources to begin organising job interviews starting next week, covering all cities and regions of the emirate.

The announcement was shared by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, during a live call on the “Direct Line” programme on Sharjah Radio and Television.

Practical training for in-demand fields

A practical training programme for graduates will launch in early February 2026, focusing on professional and technical specialisations.

Fields include civil and architectural engineering, accounting, IT, and programming. The aim is to prepare participants for direct government appointments based on their qualifications.

The programme will be rolled out in coordination with key government bodies, including the Department of Public Works, Town Planning and Survey, Housing, Roads and Transport Authority, and municipal councils across Sharjah.

393 scholarships approved

Education also got a boost. Sheikh Dr Sultan approved 393 scholarships for Emirati students and children of Emirati women pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

The scholarships cover institutions such as the American University of Sharjah, University of Khor Fakkan, University of Kalba, University of Al Dhaid, and the Sharjah Maritime Academy.
