UAE Opens Largest Relief Field Hospital in Earthquake-Hit Turkey

The United Arab Emirates has opened the largest field hospital in Turkey's Gaziantep to help survivors of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit the country on Monday, February 6th.

The 50-bed hospital in the Islahiye district is located in an area spanning 40,000 square meters, and has 15 doctors of different specializations, and 60 nurses and technical assistants. 

The medical facility is also equipped with four intensive care unit (ICU) beds.

It has been launched as part of the 'Gallant Knight/2' humanitarian operation to provide medical care and treatment services, including psychological rehabilitation, to people affected by the earthquake. 

The hospital has been coordinating with the Turkish Ministry of Health, and Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) to identify the needs of those affected by the disaster. 

More than 35,000 people died when the earthquake hit Southern Turkey and Northern Syria last week.

The two deadly earthquakes in the two countries, which are considered the most powerful quakes in the region in recent years, left thousands of people homeless.
