Abu Dhabi Police Officer Passes the 2nd Edition of Racing the Planet

Major Ahmed Hussain Al Kathiri of Abu Dhabi Police, and the first Emirati runner, successfully passed the second race in the Racing the Planet series, which was hosted by the State of Georgia from June 17 to 25, 2022, and was held for (7) consecutive days in six stages, with the participation of 42 runners and international volunteers from 26 countries.

The off-road running race was held in Javakheti, located in the South Caucasus Mountain range, for a distance of 250 km, and the total height during the course of the race reached 5.642 meters above sea level.

Al Kathiri explained that the race was characterized by great danger and facing the challenge through altitudes, winds, cold rain, and running on mud and swamps as a result of heavy rain, pointing out that Racing the Planet is a series of races held in 5 different continents, the distance of each race is 250 km, and the total of the two races that have been completed is 500 km with 750 km remaining.

He announced that he will participate in the longest desert race in the world in Dubai if it is organized next year in its second edition for a distance of 300 km, after which the UAE will be the first country in the world to achieve this achievement for a total distance of the six races, which amounts to 1,550 km.
