Fake Discount Links Used in Dubai Scam to Steal Bank Details

Dubai Police have arrested five men involved in a phishing scam that used fake promotional links pretending to offer big discounts from well-known restaurants and delivery services.

Victims Tricked Into Sharing Bank Info

According to Dubai Police’s Anti-Fraud Centre, the gang sent fake messages that looked like real promos. These messages directed users to click a link and enter their banking details to claim the “discount.” Once victims submitted their information, the gang used it to withdraw money from their accounts.

Police Traced the Activity Through Online Monitoring

The arrests came after several victims reported suspicious transactions. A special team began tracking the online activity of the group. By analyzing the message patterns, officers were able to trace the scam back to the individuals responsible.

All five suspects were taken into custody, and the electronic devices used in the scam were seized as evidence.

Residents Urged to Stay Alert

Dubai Police reminded residents not to click on unknown links or offers that seem too good to be true. Users are advised to check the source of any promotional message before entering personal information.

They also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity via the Police Eye feature on the Dubai Police app or through the eCrime platform.
