Mall of the Emirates Launches Barrierless Parking System

The new 'barrierless parking' system at Mall of the Emirates (MOE) in Dubai officially launched on February 3. Over the weekend, motorists visiting the mall received notifications about the implementation of this system, which was first activated at Deira City Centre last month. According to developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), this upgrade is part of a broader initiative to enhance parking efficiency.

What Is Barrierless Parking?

This new system eliminates the need for physical barriers at entry and exit points, allowing drivers to move seamlessly in and out of the parking area. Introduced as part of a five-year contract between MAF and Parkin PJSC, the largest paid parking operator in Dubai, the technology ensures a smoother experience without delays or lost tickets.

Despite this upgrade, MAF has confirmed that parking fees remain unchanged. They stated, "Our new seamless parking upgrade promises a ticketless and barrierless experience, allowing you to enter and exit hassle-free."

Key Regulations for Motorists

While the system aims to improve convenience, motorists must adhere to specific rules:

  • A AED150 fine applies if the parking fee is not paid within three days.

  • A AED3 charge will be imposed for passing through the MOE parking area without stopping.

  • Overnight parking is not allowed, with a penalty of AED200 per day.

How Does the New System Work?

  • Motorists can enter and exit without stopping.

  • Advanced cameras automatically detect licence plates and track vehicle duration.

  • The first 4 hours on weekdays are free, with charges applying beyond this limit.

  • Parking fees are sent via SMS with a payment link, and payments must be made within three days.

Parking Fee Structure

  • 0-4 hours: Free

  • 4-5 hours: AED20

  • 5-6 hours: AED40

  • 6-7 hours: AED60

  • 7-8 hours: AED100

  • 8+ hours: AED150

How to Waive Parking Fees

Free all-day parking is available if motorists:

  • Spend AED150 or more at the mall and validate the receipt at customer service.

  • Visit VOX Cinemas or Ski Dubai, which grants an additional two hours free on top of the four-hour allowance.

  • Use valet services, which automatically validate parking.

  • Are a Person of Determination (PoD) and validate at customer service.

What Happens If You Don’t Pay?

  • Day 1-2: SMS reminders are sent.

  • Day 3: A phone call reminder is issued.

  • After 3 days: A AED150 fine is imposed, as per Dubai’s standard parking violation policy.
