New Etihad Rail Cuts Abu Dhabi-Dubai Travel to 30 Min

Etihad Rail is set to revolutionize travel in the UAE with its plans to introduce a high-speed rail service connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 30 minutes. This major development was announced by the Abu Dhabi government at an official ceremony held at Al Faya Depot, one year after the launch of the first-ever passenger service journey.

The new rail line will hit speeds of up to 350 km/h, drastically reducing travel time between the two emirates. With a route passing through strategic destinations and popular tourist attractions, it promises to offer a seamless travel experience for both residents and visitors.

However, there’s still some time before the service is fully operational. Etihad Rail is currently seeking bids for project contracts and awaiting final approval for network designs. While it's still early in the process, the announcement marks a major milestone for the UAE's national rail project.

A Look Ahead: The Future of Rail in the UAE

Etihad Rail currently operates only freight services, but this new high-speed passenger service is a step toward a more connected future. Over the next few years, several phases of the project will be developed, eventually covering all emirates with passenger trains.

Both Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s royal families believe this new rail link will greatly enhance the quality of life for citizens, residents, and tourists alike. By cutting travel time and increasing accessibility, it will improve mobility and create new opportunities for business and leisure across the country.

During the event, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum were given a comprehensive presentation on the UAE’s first-ever passenger train fleet.

The First Four Stations: Connecting Key Cities

Another exciting announcement was the confirmation of the UAE's first four passenger rail stations. These stations will be strategically located in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, offering easy access to the rail network for a wide range of commuters. Notably, these stations will integrate with metro and bus lines, creating a fully connected transport network across the UAE.

The Etihad Rail high-speed project is set to transform the way people travel, making commuting between major cities faster and more efficient while offering a comfortable travel experience
