The Number of Emiratis in Private Sector Reach Nearly 80,000

The number of Emiratis employed in the private sector has significantly increased by 30,000 over the last six months, reaching a total of approximately 80,000. This change reflects the ongoing efforts to encourage and engage local talent in private business.

Following the expiration of the deadline for companies employing 50 or more individuals to meet the 3% Emiratization objective or potentially face fines of up to Dh500,000, the most recent statistics were released on Sunday.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization announced on Sunday that the current number of Emiratis employed in the private sector is around 79,000, which is the highest recorded figure to date. This number represents a significant growth of 57% since the end of 2022 when the private sector employed 50,228 Emiratis.

“The notable growth in the number of Emirati citizens employed in the private sector reflects the effectiveness of the Emiratisation policies that have been implemented on a semi-annual basis starting this year,” said Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Mr Al Awar also added that the aim is to “empower Emiratis to thrive in the private sector, enhance their competitiveness and enable them to actively participate in the economic and overall development” of the country.
