The initiative is part of a broader agreement called the U.S.-UAE A.I. Acceleration Partnership, designed to deepen cooperation on advanced technologies. Trump and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan attended the official unveiling, which marks the beginning of what both sides are calling a transformative partnership.

Unlike previous U.S. export restrictions under the Biden administration, which set broad limits on A.I. chip sales, the Trump team is now pushing for tailored deals. The UAE is the first country to officially secure such an agreement, allowing them to access American A.I. hardware under specific conditions.

What Makes the Abu Dhabi A.I. Campus Stand Out?

Spanning nearly 10 miles, the upcoming A.I. facility in Abu Dhabi will serve as a mega data center hub for the region. It’s strategically located to serve billions of users within a 2,000-mile radius, making it a key point for delivering advanced A.I. services across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

Lennart Heim, a researcher at the RAND Corporation, called the campus “the biggest A.I. infrastructure announcement to date,” even surpassing projects underway in the U.S.

The U.S. sees this partnership as a way to expand its technological influence while leveraging the UAE’s energy resources and global reach. In response, the U.S. Commerce Department emphasized that the UAE has agreed to enforce strict controls to prevent the misuse or illegal transfer of advanced A.I. technologies.
