The UAE could take part in an international effort led by the United States to protect the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a top diplomatic adviser said on Tuesday.

Adviser Highlights Security Concerns

Anwar Gargash, speaking at an online event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations, emphasized the importance of safeguarding shipping lanes in the Gulf.

He noted that the UAE is not currently engaged in direct talks with Iran, signaling a focus on international cooperation rather than bilateral negotiations at this time.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes. Rising regional tensions have heightened global attention on its security, prompting discussions about coordinated international protection measures.
