UAE Takes Action Against Poultry Price-Fixing Group

The UAE’s Ministry of Economy and Tourism has taken decisive action against a group accused of monopolistic practices in the poultry market, referring the case to the Federal Public Prosecution for investigation and legal proceedings.

According to an official statement issued on Sunday, the ministry confirmed the group’s involvement in exploiting current exceptional circumstances and colluding to fix poultry prices.

The case reportedly involves manipulation of prices and unjustified increases, which the ministry said are violations of the UAE's Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law.

In the statement, the ministry emphasized the detrimental impact of such practices, highlighting how they harm consumer rights, distort fair competition, and undermine market stability. As part of its commitment to preserving market integrity, the ministry noted that it has been intensifying market monitoring campaigns in cooperation with relevant authorities. These inspections have been stepped up in light of recent circumstances to strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure compliance by retailers with prevailing laws and regulations.
