Emirati Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi Lands Safely Back on Earth

The Space X Dragon capsule carrying Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi and three other Crew-6 members successfully splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Florida at 8:17 a.m. (UAE time).

Dr. Al Neyadi and the other three Crew-6 members completed their six-month space mission at the International Space Station, and Dr. Al Neyadi has become the first Arab to complete a long-duration space mission.

At 8:33 a.m. (UAE time), a Space X vessel arrived to recover the Dragon capsule.  The vessel crew will inspect the spacecraft first to ensure that no toxic gases are leaking.

The Dragon capsule carrying the four Crew-6 members was placed on the Space X recovery vessel at 9:00 a.m. (UAE time).

The engineers from the recovery vessel ensured that it was safe to unbolt the hatch and allow the four astronauts, including Dr Al Neyadi, to exit.

After the bolt was unhatched from the Dragon capsule, the Emirati astronaut exited it.

Dr. Al Neyadi and his crew mates were placed on a gurney-type transport to allow their bodies time to become accustomed to gravity.

The Crew-6 members will undergo a quick health test before being transported to Tampa, Florida, through a helicopter.

From Florida, they will take a plane to Houston, Texas, where they will reunite with family and undergo more medical checks.
