Emirati Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi to Return to the UAE on This Date

People in the UAE will be happy to know that the first Arab to perform the spacewalk Dr. Sultan Al Neyadi will return to the UAE on Monday, Sep. 18.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) made the announcement of his return on Thursday.

Dr. Al Neyadi landed back on Earth on Sep. 4 and has been part of a recovery programme in Houston, Texas, to help him readapt to gravity.

The Emirati astronaut will receive a hero's welcome in the UAE as celebrations will be held across the country for his return. 

Director General of the MBRSC Salem Al Marri explained that Dr Al Neyadi will have meetings will leaders and he will also have to participate in roadshows and other celebrations.

The astronaut gave his first public address on Tuesday, Sep. 12, sharing his experiences of readjusting to gravity. 

He said, "It felt really, really heavy".

Dr. Al Neyadi's stay in the UAE will be temporary because he has to return to the US for the debrief after which, he will return again for a longer stay.
