Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that Dubai residents will enjoy two-day free parking on August 12 and 13, for the holiday of the New Hijri Year 1443 on Tuesday.

Public parking will be free on Thursday and Friday, and the fee will be activated on Saturday (August 14).

The decision exempts the multi-level parking terminals.

Dubai Metro (Red and Green Lines) will run from 5am to 1am (the following day), and the Dubai Tram will be in service from 6am am 1am (the next day).

The Hijri Islamic calendar depends on the rotation of the moon around the sun, and therefore the beginning of the Hijri month is determined by the appearance of the moon.

Happy Hijri New year!
