Qatar's Al Attiyah and Baumel Win 2023 Dubai International Baja

Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah and his French co-driver, Mathieu Baumel, secured a resounding victory at the 2023 Dubai International Baja, marking the peak of their successful FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas campaign. They navigated the challenging terrain with their new BRX Prodrive Hunter, clocking in at 5 hours, 22 minutes, and 52.3 seconds to close the season on a high note.

Al Attiyah had finalized the FIA Bajas World Cup title in Portugal despite finishing fifth at the Baja Portalegre 500. Looking ahead, the duo is eager to defend their title at the upcoming Dakar Rally 2024 in Saudi Arabia, where they will debut the Prodrive Hunter T1+.

The rally ace outpaced his former Overdrive Racing teammates, Yazeed Al Rajhi and Timo Gottschalk, who secured the second spot in Dubai, with Al Rajhi confirming his position in the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas Drivers' and Co-Drivers' Championships.

The podium was rounded out by the Argentine-Spanish team of Juan Cruz Yacopini and Dani Oliveras of Overdrive Racing, finishing at 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 35.9 seconds.

The Baja action commenced with a two-kilometer Prologue at Dubai's Festival City, featuring a nighttime race for the first time, attracting a large audience.
