The building of fenced-in beach areas, pathways, cafés, and dining places is one of the new initiatives announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

Mangrove trees will be planted along the 8 km of Jebel Ali's beach, which will be developed in partnership with Nakheel, to help combat erosion and safeguard marine ecosystems. Along with family-friendly places, beach camping, and parking spots, it will also have bicycle and pedestrian paths, water sports facilities, rest and recreation services, restaurants, and food carts. To connect Jebel Ali Metro Station with the beach, a direct public bus route would be launched.

Sheikh Mohammed wrote on social media, “Within the Dubai Urban Plan, we have adopted the development and doubling of public beaches by 400% by 2040, which will increase its area from 21km now to 105km and raise the percentage of services by 300% on public beaches by 2025."

Al Mamzar Beach will continue to be developed as part of the first phase of the master plan, which will start in June and be complete end of this year. A 4,000-meter bicycle track will be added to Al Mamzar's public beaches and in 2023, 9% of those beaches will be made available for night swimming.

In 2024, there will be twice as many beach services, and an additional 3% of public beaches will be allocated for night swimming; in 2025, there will be three times as many beach services and a 20% increase in the length of cycling routes.

On Jumeirah Beach 2 and Umm Suqeim 1, retail kiosks will soon be built, and the beach will also get new water sports facilities and smart secure lockers.

“We launched the first urban plan in Dubai in the 1960s. Development in Dubai is continuing and we are still at the beginning. We will continue to provide the best standard of living for individuals and families in services and projects globally,” he further added.

According to Sheikh Mohammed, the master plan illustrates Dubai's dedication to offering beachgoers unique experiences in keeping with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33's objective of solidifying the emirate's position as one of the top three tourist destinations.
