In a bold rescue mission on July 7, the UAE saved 22 people from the British-flagged ship Magic Seas, which was attacked by Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. The attack forced the crew to abandon the vessel in rough waters.

UAE Ship Safa Breeze Leads Rescue

The rescue was led by the Safa Breeze, a UAE-operated ship under Abu Dhabi Ports Group, which responded fast to the emergency distress call and reached the scene just in time to save the stranded crew and security staff.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the rescue was carried out with full coordination from the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and other global maritime bodies. All safety procedures were followed during the operation.

The Attack: Drones, Missiles, and Unmanned Boats

Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they launched drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, and unmanned boats at the ship—marking another dangerous escalation in Red Sea waters.
