Abu Dhabi Police Seized 2.25 Million Captagon Drug Tablets

In Abu Dhabi, three individuals have been arrested following the discovery of 2.25 million Captagon tablets found in boxes falsely labelled as dried apricots.

According to Abu Dhabi Police, the smugglers had intentions to sell a portion of the illegal drugs within the UAE, while also aiming to transport the remaining quantity to a neighboring country.

“One million of these tablets were destined for the domestic market, while the remaining tablets were meant for smuggling,” stated Brig Gen Taher Al Dhaheri, director of Abu Dhabi Police's anti-narcotics team.

Abu Dhabi Police was successful due to the well-executed plan and collaboration with UAE authorities. Upon receiving information about a drug smuggling plot, law enforcement officers closely monitored the activities of three individuals.

Subsequently, the suspects were arrested, and a significant quantity of drugs was seized from three separate apartments located in a neighboring emirate.

In addition to the drug seizure, authorities also seized the packaging tools utilized for the pills. Brigadier General Taher emphasized the significance of collaboration with relevant institutions to combat drug-related risks and challenges.

“The force’s efforts are aimed at protecting society, especially young people, from the deadly effects of drugs, and enhancing preventive measures against crime and strengthening the security and stability of society,” he said.
