Dubai’s Deira Clock Tower has officially made it to the list of the world’s most beautiful clock towers, according to UK-based The Telegraph. The historic site, built in 1963, ranked 17th on the global list and continues to stand as one of the city’s oldest architectural landmarks.

The recognition was highlighted by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, who shared the news on social media with a tribute video celebrating the structure's long-standing legacy.

A Landmark That Shaped Dubai’s History

More than just a timekeeper, the Deira Clock Tower was the city’s first major landmark, connecting Deira and Bur Dubai by road back in the early 1960s. It quickly became a symbol of the city’s development and transformation.

Sheikha Latifa described the tower as a key part of Dubai’s journey, stating that it holds a permanent place in the hearts of residents and visitors alike. For many, it’s a nostalgic piece of the city’s early days—one that has witnessed decades of change.

Refreshed But Not Forgotten

In 2023, Dubai Municipality completed a Dh10 million revamp of the Clock Tower Roundabout. The upgrade introduced a new water fountain, added green spaces, and created pedestrian-friendly walkways—all while keeping the structure’s original charm intact.

Today, the Deira Clock Tower stands as a blend of Dubai’s rich past and ever-evolving future, proving that even the oldest parts of the city can stay relevant in a fast-changing world.
