Record 60,000 Worshippers at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque During Ramadan

According to news agency Wam, a record-breaking number of 60,310 Muslims gathered at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi on the 27th night of Ramadan to celebrate Laylat Al Qadr, a crucial night in the Islamic faith. This is the highest number of worshippers ever hosted by the grand mosque since its establishment.

On the same night, approximately 23,552 people gathered at the Sheikh Khalifa Grand Mosque in Al Ain, with 2,402 observing Al Isha and Taraweeh prayers and 21,150 performing Tahajjud prayers.

At the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the Emirate of Fujairah, the total number of worshippers reached 5,239, including 1,382 who prayed Al Isha and Tarawih and 3,857 who attended Tahajjud prayers.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre provided a total of 6,579 parking spaces for worshippers, including 1,500 for women and 60 spaces for people with disabilities, in addition to the mosque's interior and exterior parking areas near Wahat Al Karama.

Laylat Al Qadr, also known as the Night of Destiny, is one of the odd-numbered nights during the last 10 days of Ramadan. It marks the occasion when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Mohammed. The Quran has a whole chapter dedicated to this night, describing it as "better than a thousand months," during which angels and the holy spirit Gabriel descend upon the Earth.
