Sharjah Man Caught on CCTV Torturing Kittens to Death

What started as two dead kittens outside a Sharjah restaurant quickly turned into a community nightmare. After spotting lifeless kittens on back-to-back mornings, staff checked CCTV—and were horrified to see a man violently attacking the animals at dawn. The footage, too graphic to share, showed the man tossing, stomping, and slamming the kittens before casually walking away.

Locals Left Shaken
The incident has rattled residents. Joseph Lobo, a longtime expat in the area who looks after strays, filed a police complaint after seeing the video. “The mother cat is still crying and searching for her kittens,” he said. Neighbors fear the abuser lives nearby, with several shops saying they’ve spotted him in the area.

Community Demands Justice
The video has gone viral online, with locals and rescuers demanding immediate action. Many pointed out that animal abuse often links to wider violence in society. “We need this man caught and punished,” one resident said. Pet rescuers urged people to report incidents through the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment’s Biosecurity platform.

Animal Abuse Is a Crime
Animal protection laws in the UAE are clear: fines up to Dh200,000 and jail time await those found guilty of abuse. Specific penalties include:

  • Up to one year in prison or Dh10,000 fine for killing or poisoning animals.

  • Dh5,000 fine for harassing or torturing pets.

  • Dh200,000 fine for selling sick or injured animals.

Authorities have also been stepping up animal welfare efforts, including stricter pet registration rules in Abu Dhabi to protect stray populations.

Why It Matters
This case isn’t just about cats—it’s about community safety and compassion. Residents say catching the abuser will send a strong message that cruelty has no place in the UAE.
