The Time100 AI list is a recognition of Al Olama's work in the field of AI. It is a testament to his vision and leadership in helping to shape the future of this technology.

H.E. Omar Al Olama, the 33-year-old Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications in the United Arab Emirates, has been included in the "Shaper" category of Time magazine's inaugural list of the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence.

In an interview with Time to mark his inclusion, Al Olama said that the UAE is in a prime position to "effect change in the sector on a global level." He cited the country's young and educated population, its strategic location, and its commitment to innovation as factors that make it a global leader in AI.

"We are a medium-sized country; we have invested in AI for a few years now. So we were a bit far ahead of many other countries that are in this domain.

"We cannot compete with China and the US; I don’t think we ever will want to compete. Our job is to be first an enabler and to leverage our strength to support all the players when it comes to AI.
