During Eid al-Adha, Muslims typically wear new clothing and some exchange gifts.

The Feast of Sacrifice dates from the historic event when the Prophet Ibrahim had a remarkable dream vision on a fateful night. In the dream, God Almighty appeared before Ibrahim and commanded him to sacrifice his beloved son Ismail as a sign of submission and obedience.

Ibrahim took Ismail to the summit of Mount Arafah and prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice because his loyalty to God was unwavering. But just as the patriarch was going to slaughter Ismail, the archangel Jibril appeared before him with a ram.

Jibril then disclosed that Ibrahim's faith had been confirmed and that the ram was to be offered as a sacrifice to pay for his son's ransom.

Since then, Muslims all around the world have observed Eid Adha as the Day of Sacrifice in remembrance of Ibrahim's submission, dedication, and obedience.

Eid al-Adha’s Prayer Timings in the UAE:

Muslims in the UAE are expected to gather at mosques early in the morning to pray together for Eid al-Adha.

In general, the prayer is led in two rak'ahs (units of prayer) by an Imam or another person who is qualified to do so. The congregation and the Imam chant "Allahu Akbar" seven times to begin the prayer, which is preceded by the recital of Takbeerat (Allah is greatest).

After prayer, there is a speech, or khutbah, which typically emphasises on the value and significance of Eid al-Adha.
