UAE Announces Eid Al Fitr Holiday for Private Sector Employees

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that the Eid Al Fitr break for the private sector is to start from Ramadan 29th and run until Shawwal 3rd.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has set the same break days for public sector employees. This decision means that both private and public sector employees get the same amount of days for their Eid break.

Ramadan 29th falls on April 20th, Thursday and the moon sighting committee will meet up to confirm the start of Eid. If the crescent moon is spotted on that night, it means that Eid Al Fitr will start on April 21st, Friday and the private sector employees will get a four-day break.

However, if the moon is not spotted that night, then the first day of Eid starts on April 22nd, Saturday, which will give the private sector a five-day break.

Ramadan is expected to last for 29 days in 2023, according to astronomical calculations, therefore it is very likely for both private and public sectors to get a four-day break from April 20th to April 23rd.
